Lausanne, Lake Geneva Region (Vaud)
A picturesque location right on the lakeside
The geographical location of Lausanne could hardly be more picturesque. This, the Olympic capital, is built on three hills with the Lake of Geneva bathing its feet and a garland of vineyards around its shoulders.
Clearly visible are the Alps across the water in which, weather permitting, glistens their reflection - a panorama not to be forgotten. The mediaeval town centre is full of small alleys and boutiques, cafés and restaurants. You can while away the hours in the vineyards or take advantage of other attractive excursions on offer. The cultural menu is extensive and many festivals are planned. That is the best time to find out just how much the French-speaking Swiss like enjoying themselves.
