Neuchâtel, Neuchâtel / Jura

The capital of watchmaking

Neuchâtel is located on the largest lake that is entirely Swiss. The town is a capital of watchmaking and would, under other circumstances, be famous for that alone. The town has its own panoramic cable railway. The castle, where in late Summer a music festival takes place, is also worth a visit even when the festival is not on. But there is one thing you really should not miss here in Neuchâtel and that is the museum where Jaquet-Droz clock-automatons are on show. There is nothing else like it in the world.

The historical town is on the biggest all-Swiss lake.

Swiss writer, Friedrich Dürrenmatt loved Neuchâtel.
