Spiez
Spiez is a city in the district of Niedersimmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
It is located at the south bank of Lake Thun. It comprises five villages (Bäuerte): Spiez, Einigen, Hondrich, Faulensee and Spiezwiler (formerly Wyler).
Thun features an old downtown area with Medieval buildings, wooden covered bridges (like in Lucerne), and a cobblestone downtown pedestrian area. It is a charming town to explore and is well outside the normal tourist areas of the Bernese Oberland.
Spiez is a scenic little town on the edge of Lake Thun and features a castle and beautiful marina area. The lakeside park is filled with people in the summertime, sunbathing, biking, putting in their kayaks, and enjoying the lake. This is a fantastic place to park and kayak the ice blue waters of the Thunersee.
